The French Railway Industry Association

FIF regroups some fifty companies and its membership, which represents the full range of railway industrial activities, includes rolling stock manufacturers, engineering firms, railway equipment suppliers, track and signalling industries, design offices, testing centres, etc. FIF truly encompasses all the players and stakeholders in the railway industrial chain.

On behalf of its members, FIF:

-  organises the promotion and valorisation of the trade both in France and abroad,

-  defends its interests in dealings with public authorities, regional transport executives, railway operators and infrastructure managers ,

-  acts as an effective interface for the railway industrial sector at European level,

-  ensures the capture and dissemination of statistics for the trade as a whole.

FIF on 14 February 2005 obtained AFAQ AFNOR Certification for its portfolio of services, based on the Quali´OP benchmark.

The French railway industrial sector in 2007 posted a turnover amounting to € 4.04 billion (with the domestic market accounting for € 2.26 billion and exports for € 1.78 billion) and employed a workforce of about 16500 persons.
